Slope garage

What do I need to consider with a hangar garage (backfilling or overfilling)?

Garages with reinforced walls and roofs can be built into slopes on sloping terrain. Complete backfilling or overfilling is also possible with special component designs. This requires a load-bearing subsoil in accordance with the individual foundation plans and stable embankments in the case of excavation pits. If you are unable to make a reliable assessment, please seek advice from a structural engineer or specialist planner.

We kindly ask you to note the following points during construction:

1. EXCAVATION OF THE CONSTRUCTION PIT (ON SITE)

A corresponding working space must be added to the external dimensions of the garage. It must be 60 cm at the base. The slope angle depends on the stability of the soil. For safety reasons (risk of collapse), the slope must not be too steep. Please also refer to our drawing. In case of deviations, DIN 4124 must be observed.

2. DRAINAGE (ON SITE)

After the foundations, reinforced against earth pressure, have been constructed

, the necessary drainage must be laid before the garage is assembled and connected to the property drainage system in accordance with local regulations. Drainage pipes in accordance with DIN 4095 with a diameter of 100 mm must be laid at a gradient of 0.5%. The roof drainage must be connected to the sewer system in accordance with local regulations. Flushing pipes DN 300 (max. distance = 50 m) should be installed where the drainage pipe changes direction; the transfer shaft must be DN 1000.

3. WATERPROOFING OF GARAGES IN ACCORDANCE WITH WU GUIDELINES (WHITE WATERPROOFING)

The garages must be waterproofed by ZAPF GmbH in accordance with the WU guideline and local conditions. Backfilling or covering with earth (as described in point 5) can be carried out immediately after installation.

4. WATERPROOFING OF THE GARAGE IN ACCORDANCE WITH DIN 18533 (BLACK WATERPROOFING)

The garages must be waterproofed in accordance with DIN 18533, depending on local conditions. If the waterproofing work is carried out by ZAPF GmbH, the client must accept the work immediately upon request – but in any case before the earth filling or backfilling begins. Acceptance must take place in the presence of a representative of ZAPF GmbH and in written form.

5. EARTH FILLING OR EARTH COVERING (ON SITE)

The earth filling or earth covering heights, as well as the subsequent terrain running, must be carried out in accordance with the specifications in the order confirmation. The terrain must not rise to a width of at least 3 m from the garage wall. The ground load in the 3 m area must not exceed 3.5 KN/m2 or cars with a total weight of up to 2.5 t. Any subsequent deviations due to the construction site with other load effects on the garage must be clarified with ZAPF GmbH before the garage is manufactured. Water-permeable, non-cohesive soil (e.g., sand, gravel, crushed stone) must be used as backfill material. It may only be filled in layers by hand and not compacted by machine. The backfill may therefore settle over time. For adjoining terraces, the working space must be filled in layers with sharp-edged crushed stone.

6. PLANTING ON SITE

Additional loads on the garage due to plants with strong root systems must be avoided at all costs. Allow for appropriate distances from the garage.
